The great thing about Diabolos is that it doesn’t cost a lot of money to get started. A beginner can buy a sturdy, durable Diabolo and a pair of handsticks for around $25. Of course, as your skills improve, you can purchase fancier and more expensive Diabolos.
Diabolos USA Manufacturers
One of the best-known and most reputable Diabolo companies is Mister Babache. Mister Babache--or Mr. B-- a Swiss company, produces three very popular Diabolo models — the Finesse, Millennium and Harlequin.
Diabolo models usually are available in a wide range of bright colors.
Choosing a Diabolo
When selecting a Diabolo, consider size, weight and materials. Most people use plastic or rubber Diabolo.
Generally speaking, medium is the most popular size. This is a great Diabolo for kids and beginners and it works very well for most Diabolo tricks. Medium Diabolos are around four inches in diameter and weigh seven ounces.
We highly recommend Mr. Babache’s Millennium if you’re purchasing a medium Diabolo. You’ll see lots of kids with these models. The Millennium spins nicely and is very sturdy.
Large Diabolos are around five inches in diameter and are ideal for tricks. They are easier to control and provide good balance. But because they weigh more, large Diabolos are harder on your arms. Mister Babache’s Finesse is regarded as the best large Diabolo. Diabolos also are available in two other sizes: Small and Performers.
Choosing Your Handsticks
Beginners should start with standard Diabolos USA handsticks made of hardwood with holes in the ends for string.
If you want to get a little fancier, the standard handsticks also come with plastic
